PRESERVATION OF HAUSA CULTURE THROUGH MEDIA
Abstract
On numerous occasions not only the layman of the society, but even the elites erroneously and inadvertently conceptualize culture as mere `drumming and dancing’ and therefore fail to see any contribution culture makes or made to the struggle for socio-economic development.
Every culture has a dual tendency, a tendency towards stability and a tendency toward change. This paper discusses on the definition of culture and media, and the role the media plays in the effective preservation of Hausa culture. It further traces some of the problems the media encounter in its effort to preserve the culture and finally suggest a way to solve or at least minimize such problems.
