DIETARY HABITS AS A TOOL FOR HAUSA CULTURAL IDENTITY
Abstract
Dietary habits refer to the habitual decisions of individuals or group of people or culture in regarding what foods they eat or prefer most.
Proper dietary choices require the consumption of vitamins, carbohydrates, proteins and fats. Therefore dietary habits are the habitual decisions of people or cultures makes when choosing what foods to eat.
The word diet, often refer to the use of specific intake of nutrition for health or weight- management. Although human beings varies in the decisions and culture, each person hold some food preferences or food taboos.
This may be due to personal test or ethical reasons. Dietary habits play a significant role in human health and cultural identity; it can define culture and play role in religion. In the light of the above reason therefore, the paper is intended to critically assess the relevance of dietary habit in identifying Hausa culture.
