History of Northern Nigerian Women, most especially during the colonial times will be incomplete without special mention and paying a great tribute to Hajiya Maimuna Dada Sare.
She was a woman of substance and prestige as testified by some colonial officers who worked and interact closely with her during an era that many women voices from this part of
Africa did not resonate far. Nigerians, particularly in the Northern part believe a righteous person is rooted in line of ancestry.
They also believe in inherited good values and norms from family and colleagues, that was what Hajiya Maimuna personified.
This paper is set as a review of a one woman’s war from her unpublished memoirs where lie in her contributions as a nationalist, liberator, transformer, not only of her family and friends but also other contemporary women that in turn took part in the development of the country even after her demise.
The paper will duel on her memoirs, her literary input and contributions to Northern Nigeria in general and women in particular.
