Contribution of Arabic Language to the Development of Hausa Language
The primacy of language in human life is indisputable and therefore cannot be neglected in any human development, because it serves as the central vehicle for civilization and development. It is the most valuable asset that people have and without which he cannot think, express his feelings or preserve his cultural heritage effectively.
It is used to communicate ideas, thoughts, and events from one person to another. Language is central to the sustenance of a group of people for it is the vehicle through which other constituents of cultures are communicated. It is the primary vehicle through which human culture is acquired, shared and transmitted. Without language, there is bound to be problem in the society for thoughts, ideas and information. This paper analyzed the contribution of Arabic language to the development of Hausa language. It focuses mainly on Education and Hausa words that were borrowed from Arabic language.
