THE ROLE OF HAUSA LANGUAGE IN INTERNATIONAL BROADCASTING
ABSTRACT
Generally speaking, there is no denying the fact that in the light of current the variables.
Hausa language is most populous and widely spoken African language.
Hausa language is spoken and used as first and second language respectively by millions of people in West Africa particularly and Africa generally.
Majority of Hausa speakers and users who are called Hausawa,
live in Hausaland and in Diaspora.
Hausaland comprises an enormous area of that part of the western Sahel which lies adjacent to the Lake Chad basin. Basically Hausaland can be said to cover much of northern Nigeria. Territorially, Hausalnad is about the size of the two great European countries – namely France and Britain.
Over the years, Hausa language has acquired for itself various status for use in diverse communication purposes in human endeavor. It is chosen for use in Education, information and communication dissemination and broadcasting nationally and internationally.
The aim of this presentation is to present and overview of the role Hausa language as one of the African languages employed for use in international broadcasting of the broadcast media – namely radio and television.
