Abstract
This paper ‘Language Use in Politics: A Case of Hausa Metaphorical Expressions’ tries to posit that politicians use electronic media in their electioneering campaigns to persuade and canvass for votes. Language is the main instrument use in
delivering political massages. The politicians also use several figures of speech to counter attack the opponents. As a result of this new political terms emerged and the existing ones are developed to give a different shade of meanings of the Hausa words. Therefore, the paper focuses on figures of speech and their usage particularly in the context of modern politics. And it hopes to enrich the language and political culture of the Hausa people and increase the vocabulary of the Hausa language. The content analysis will be our instrument to analyze the data.
